Voters pass bond, individual precinct count not available
Florence area voters went to the polls April 4 but the exact results are not known.
The final count from the entire school district was 1,009 "yes" and 349 "no."
According to Marion County Clerk Carol Maggard the same ballot was used for all of the school district voters and the electronic scanner that tabulates the ballots was programmed to provide the count a specific way. To have the equipment programmed to provide additional information would have been at the expense of the county.
So in the end, the number of "yes" or "no" votes for Marion-Florence USD #408 bond issue from Florence and Marion North could not be separated.
It is known that there were 299 "yes" and 64 "no" votes cast in Marion South. A total of 588 "yes" and 262 "no" were cast by voters in the Marion North and Florence precincts.
There are 407 registered voters in Florence and 184 voted.
The total numbers also reflect voters from townships within the school district, which also was not separated in the tally.
