Volunteers clean up Florence
Two dozen citizens of the Florence community braved a chilling drizzle and overcast skies Saturday to trim trees, pick up trash, and clear right-of-way areas along city streets and in Grandview Park.
One group cleaned out the second story of the city-owned library building as well as a storage area to be used by community groups. The volunteers washed windows and hauled off trash.
One family, including children, walked 8th Street and picked up trash along the route.
Other volunteers provided a noon meal and supper at the home of Bev Baldwin.
People also did trimming at their homes and the city or volunteers picked up limbs and clippings from their curbs.
Volunteers felt they didn't get enough done and plan to hold a second work day Oct. 26. Anyone needing trees trimmed should contact Janette Parmley.
Because of the weather Saturday none of the painting projects got done. They will be on the list to be tackled in two weeks.
Those helping Saturday were Bev Baldwin, Phil Baldwin, John Bedford, Joe Box, Rick Burcky, John and Nelsie Dauber, Bruce Fetrow, Stuart Funk, Darla Gore, Mary Jane Grimmett, Austin and Gator Hager, Ken Hoffman, Ernie Hurdle, John Lehman, Dale Miller, Randy and Judy Mills, Tim and Janette Parmley, Cody Parmley, Ed and Neva Robinson, Janet Robinson, KayCee and Krisde Robinson, Steve Rose, Harvey Wells, and Pat Zogelman.
