Viola Eck
Viola (Becker) Eck, 98, died July 25, 2004.
Born Sept. 13, 1907, in Goltry, Okla., she was a daughter of Barney and Anna Becker.
At age 10 she and her family moved to Greensburg in a covered wagon.
She married Joel D. Eck Sept. 18, 1928. To this union were born five children.
In 1930 they moved to a farm near Coldwater. They farmed there for 10 years. In 1947 they moved to Furley, where they also were active in farming. After his death, she continued to live on the farm until 1993, when she moved to live with her daughter in Dallas, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joel, and one grandson.
She is survived by four daughters, Doris, Norma, Jo Ann, and Gloria; a son, Wayne; 16 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and 19 great-great-grandchildren.
Services were July 29 at Hesston Mennonite Church. Her daughter, Doris Swartz, presented her life story.
A memorial fund has been established with Gideons International.
