Victory Parade to honor veterans
An afternoon parade May 24 through downtown Peabody will honor all veterans.
Although "Operation Celebration" began as an event to recognized the service men and women of World War II, it was decided during the early planning stages to include as many veterans as possible, no matter when or where they served. They also don't need to be from Peabody.
Myrna Wood, Peabody American Legion Auxiliary president, has invited all of the veteran groups in Marion County to participate in the parade which will begin at 4 p.m.
Veterans who will be in Peabody for the Memorial Day weekend, but are currently not local residents also are encourage to enter the parade.
For more information or to sign up contact Wood at 620-983-2451 or contact Shane Marler with the city of Peabody, 620-983-2174.
