Victorian tea, Civil War fashion show is Saturday
Tickets are disappearing quickly for the Victorian Tea and Civil War period fashion show scheduled from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Peabody.
The Victorian Revival Society is partnering with Peabody Main Street Association to present, "Pansies, Petticoats, and Petit Fours."
The tea includes elegant refreshments and music presented by Jon and Betsy Goering, members of "The Free Staters," a group of Civil War period musicians.
A fashion show featuring costumes of the mid-1800s, a vintage makeover, and fashion review will follow the tea. Door prizes will be given.
The Civil War fashions are being provided by re-enactors affiliated with the Eighth Kansas Volunteer Infantry and Susie Schmidt, who will show several fashions from her own collection. Also on display will be the 1868 wedding gown of Mary Potter, grandmother of Joan Potter Berns.
Tickets must be purchased in advance. Space is limited. The cost of the event is $12 which also includes one free Peabody Bucks gift certificate good for $5, compliments of the Peabody Main Street Association.
