Vevia Ford

Vevia E. Ford, 92, Peabody, died April 19, 2001, at Peabody.

Born Aug. 8, 1909, at Little Cedar, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Eva (Chapman) Brock.

She had worked as a waitress and also as a cook in Peabody Elementary School.

Widowed twice, she married Joseph Spangler Sept. 25, 1925, at El Dorado and John Ford on Oct. 18, 1952, in Russell.

She also was preceded in death by sons Harold and Robert Spangler, one brother, one sister, one grandson, and two great-grandsons.

Survivors include her sons Harry Spangler of Wichita and Francis Steven Ford of Peabody; daughters Fern Stovall of Newton and Rose Grosse of Peabody; 20 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 42 great-great grandchildren.

Services were held Tuesday afternoon at Peabody Christian Church with Pastor Jim Pohlman officiating.

Burial was in Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Peabody.

A memorial fund has been established with Peabody Community Living Center.
