Vernon Nonken
Vernon W. Nonken, 78, of Burns died Feb. 15, 2002, at Wichita.
A machinist at Hesston Corporation, he also had been a farmer.
The son of the late George and Leeta (Wilbur) Nonken, he was born Oct. 14, 1923, at Marion.
He was married to Darleen (Schoen) Nonken Aug. 25, 1961, at Stillwater. She survives.
Other survivors include two stepsons, Larry Andrews of Burns and Tom Lusk of Borger, Texas; daughters, Cheryl Thompson of Halstead and Ruth Arnold of Borger, Texas; stepdaughters Charlotte Andrews of Newton, Donna Slatten of Collins, Mo., and Joy Ratcliff of Borger, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Monday morning at Peabody Christian Church with Pastor Jim Pohlman officiating. Burial was in Whitewater Center Cemetery.
Memorial funds have been established at Whitewater Center Church and with Northview Developmental Center at Newton.
