Unknown individual steals rock from county
After Marion County Road and Bridge applied rock to Eagle Road at 80th, an unknown individual used a blade to pull rock from the roadway into a personal driveway. The incident occurred sometime between 11 a.m. March 10 and 7:15 a.m. March 14. Sheriff Lee Becker states the damage and gravel taken is valued at $237.43.
A fire was started at 210th and Clover at 3:02 p.m. March 16 by an unknown person. Approximately 100 acres of grass was burned. There was no natural source of fire at the location. The burned grass is property of Robert Soyez, 2267 Clover, Marion. Also reported was a similar fire on March 17 at 90th and Wagon Wheel. The fire was started approximately one-fourth mile from the road. There also was no natural source of fire at this location, reports Deputy Larry Starkey.
A driver was stopped by Undersheriff Randal Brazil at 12:27 a.m. April 10 at Nighthawk and 180th for failure to maintain lane. The driver was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence, refusing preliminary breath test, and transporting an open container.
An individual entered a locked shed by breaking a window at 5:30 p.m. April 1 at 1576 Eagle, Hillsboro. A Black & Decker 3/8-inch drill valued at $50 and a Skill 7 1/4-inch saw valued at $50 were taken. The property belongs to Brian W. Woods, 101 North Streeter, Hesston, reports Deputy Rollin Schmidt.
At 7 a.m. March 14, an unknown person entered property at 203 East Chicago, Lost Springs, and removed numerous tools. The hand and power tools are valued at $2,500 and is the property of Stephen L. Salamone, 325 West Third Tampa, states Undersheriff Randal Brazil.
