Trojans fly high at Halstead wrestling tourney
Hillsboro High School wrestling team continued its hot streak Saturday at the Halstead tournament.
Seven wrestlers placed at the tournament, giving the Trojans a fourth-place finish out of 22 teams.
Andrew Bina kept alive his perfect season with four victories and a first-place finish. He now sits at 15-0 on the season in the 140-pound weight class.
Ric Johnson and Eric Cress were the next highest finishers for Hillsboro, taking second in the 130-pound and 140-pound classes respectively. Cress finished the day 4-1 and Johnson 4-2.
Nicholas Mueller (125 pounds) and Kurtis Shaw (275) both took fourth place, while Tyler Jones (135) finished fifth. Matt Brown was 2-0 at 145 pounds, but had to take sixth place after falling ill.
Junior varsity
HHS junior varsity squad dominated the Abilene tournament with nine wrestlers finishing in the top three.
