Traylee Woodruff sings National Anthem at fair

Staff writer

Traylee Woodruff, who will be a seventh grader at Peabody-Burns Junior High School this fall never expected to be in such popular demand when she and her family moved to Peabody this spring.

The seventh grader was asked by Billie Jo Claassen to sing the National Anthem at the women's rodeo. Claassen is a member of the Rafter P women's rodeo team, that played host at the Marion County Fair Women's Ranch Rodeo this year.

"I heard her sing at the Peabody Fourth of July celebration, and I asked if she would like to sing at the county fair before the women's rodeo," Billie said.

Traylee, her parents, Stewart and Tracy Woodruff and family moved from Westmoreland, a town of 500 to Peabody, a town of 1,500.

"I really like it here in Peabody," Traylee said.

She is involved in other activities besides singing. She plays the keyboard, participated in basketball and track, played softball this summer, and was a member of the swim team.

Traylee began singing at an early age and competed in a talent show when she was in first grade.

She enjoys all kinds of music. Her favorite singer is Celine Dion.

Although a little nervous, Traylee said she enjoys singing in front of crowds.

The natural singer plans to be a lawyer or a veterinarian.

"Because I like to fight (argue or debate) and I love animals," she said.
