Trash, recycling schedules changed
Due to an error in the original schedule for recycling in 2007, there has been some recent confusion about which days actually will be recycling days.
"An error on the calendar we distributed in January 2007, created problems for the last three months of the year," said city employee Stephanie Ax.
Ax recommends that anyone still in possession of the original schedule get rid of it. A corrected calendar was mailed to residents with the November water bill. Copies are available at the city office.
Two recycling days remain for the month of November, Friday and Nov. 30. In December the dates for picking up recyclables will be Dec. 14 and 28.
"In addition, there will be changes in pickup of regular trash because of upcoming holidays," Ax added.
Trash that normally would have been picked up Nov. 23 will be picked up a day later because of Thanksgiving.
Pickup for the Friday following Christmas also will be moved to Saturday. And refuse scheduled to be picked up Jan. 4, 2008, will be picked up on Jan. 5.
"Stutzman Refuse doesn't collect trash on holidays," said Ax. "But every holiday pushes the schedule back a day for the rest of that week. Since Peabody pickup is the last day of the week, we will almost always be affected."
