Town meeting is Thursday at Florence
Florence economic development chairman Sarah Cope has organized a town meeting to be held at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Florentine Center.
Mayor John Lehman is hoping for a large turnout to discuss Florence standards board, local economic development efforts, and priorities for revenue from the new city sales tax.
Cope said this is a chance for citizens to express their opinions on the above topics. "The council is toughening up some ordinances and people need to offer their input now," said Cope. "And everyone probably has an idea about how the city should spend the extra tax money. If they don't share that information there is no way the council will know what community members want.
"People need to be there."
The meeting also will be a chance for Lehman and the city council to thank volunteers who have worked for the betterment of Florence. Refreshments will be served.
