Tomahawks win season opener
Peabody-Burns Tomahawks opened their season Sept. 11 with an away game at Sedgwick.
The Tomahawks held Sedgwick on the first possession, then struck quickly as Trevor Hamm ran for the score. Nathan Bishop passed to William Pratt for the extra point.
The defense continued stopping Sedgwick and the offense racked up more points with two runs by Hamm, a pass by Duane Unruh, and a pass interception by Unruh. The PBJH squad completed only one extra point, with a Bishop pass to Pratt.
The Tomahawks led 34-0 at the half.
Following half-time, the Tomahawks struggled with penalties that chewed up time and stopped the offense from scoring.
Tomahawk reserves took the field. Sedgwick was able to score twice on the reserves for 16 points.
The Peabody-Burns squad found the end zone one more time with a kick-off return by Bishop.
The Tomahawks won the opener by a score of 40 to 16.
They play at home Thursday against Remington.
