Tomahawks win one, lose one

Peabody-Burns Junior High boys' basketball team were one and one this week, taking a 40-36 loss Monday at the hands of Canton-Galva before defeating Little River, 43-10, Thursday.
Canton-Galva
Tomahawks were down 11-3 at the end of the first period. Aaron Topham scored two free throws and Sean Jones added one.
Peabody-Burns defensive pressure increased in the second quarter to hold the Eagles to six. The Tomahawks added six of their own to put the gap at 17-9 at the half. Jake Middleton had four with two added by Brian Wingert.
The third quarter started slow for the Tomahawks. The Eagles built a 20-point lead before the PBJH squad went on a 10-0 run to cut the Eagle lead to 31-21. Wingert led the third quarter with four. Jacob Simmonds added three and Seth Alstrom and Elliott Spechtenhauser had two each. Middleton added one.
The Tomahawks came as close as two, scoring 15 points in the fourth but came up short at the buzzer, 40-36. Wingert put in seven, Simmonds and Kendall Wiebe added three each and Middleton contributed two. PBJH totals

Little River
Peabody-Burns Junior High took an early lead, 10-0. Defensive pressure held the Redskins to only one basket. After one quarter, the Tomahawks had a 17-2 lead. Spechtenhauser and Middleton led the scoring with four each. Simmonds had three. Wiebe, Alstrom, and Wingert added two each.
The Tomahawks continued to build on the lead, adding eight before the half. The lead at the end of two was 25-4, with Spechtenhauser adding four. Alstrom and Topham put in two each.
The Tomahawks cruised to an easy win, scoring 18 more in the second half, 43-10.

The team's record currently stands at two wins, one loss as they head into a Thursday match-up at home against Inman.
B-team
Tomahawk B-team split two this past week when they lost to Canton-Galva, 16-11, and defeated Little River, 25-14.
In the Canton-Galva contest, Chris Loucks led the team with six. Seth Methvin had three and Jordon Foth added two.
In the Little River competition, Brian O'Neal led the team with seven followed by Christopher Brooks with four. Martin Hofkamp put in three while Isaac Burnett, Cade Middleton, Foth, Chris Dunfield, and Chris Loucks each added two. Methvin added one.
