Tomahawks shut out Sedgwick

Peabody-Burns Tomahawks opened their football season Thursday at home. The team made an impressive debut, beating the Sedgwick Cardinals by a score of 28-0.

The next opponent for the Tomahawks will be on the road at Remington.

The Cardinals took the kick-off and marched down the field. The drive was halted however by good Tomahawk defense forcing a fumble on the 10-yard line. An 85-yard pass play from Derrick Simmonds to Duane Unruh gave the PBJH squad its first score. The PAT was good and the score stood at 8-0.

The next possession for the Tomahawks came at the hands of Simmonds who intercepted a Cardinal pass. Trevor Hamm put additional points on the board on the drive with a 15-yard run. The PAT missed and the score was 14-0, holding at that until half time.

After half time, both teams played tough with each having several series of downs.

The Tomahawks next score came from a 50-yard Simmonds pass play to Eric Buller. Cole Welsh added two extra points, bringing the score to 22-0.

The final score was a 70-yard run by Hamm. The PAT failed, but the Tomahawks defeated the Cardinals at home and the final score stood at 28-0.
