Tomahawks remain undefeated

Peabody-Burns Junior High Tomahawks remain perfect (9-0) with two more league victories this past week.

The Tomahawks defeated Hutch Trinity Monday at home, 63-12, and took a road win Thursday over Remington, 55-27. The junior high will have a week off with the next contest Jan. 26 at Inman.

The squad opened with a six-point run on the Hutch Trinity team. The PBJH defense swarmed the Celtics, creating turnovers that led to scoring opportunities. The Tomahawks went up by 15 at the end of the first quarter, 18-3. Ryan Wiebe led the scoring with eight.

The defense kept up the pressure and the entire Tomahawk team saw action in the first half. Rebounding was key to the transition game and good scoring for the Tomahawks. The team took a huge lead to the locker room at the half, 32-3.

The rest of the game was much like the first half with good play from all members of the Tomahawk team. The PBJH team took the victory over Hutch Trinity, 63-12.

Next action for the Tomahawks was the game against Remington. The team took a seven-point opening lead. Defensive pressure took over creating turnovers and the Tomahawks poured on the offense. The lead at the end of one quarter was 22-6. Duane Unruh set the pace for the team with 10 points.

Tomahawks went to a half-court defense in the second quarter, but still held Remington to three points. The offense added 11 to take a 33-9 lead at the half.

The team continued to dominate the game in the second half. PBJH exercised liberal substitutions throughout the contest and took the victory, 55-27.

With a recent victory, the Peabody Junior High Tomahawk B team improved their record to 6-2. The squad defeated Hutch Trinity 39-16.
