Tomahawks rack up two wins
Season opens Nov. 17
The Peabody-Burns Junior High Tomahawks opened the basketball season with two games last week.
The Tomahawks dominated in a road opener Nov. 17 at Canton-Galva, defeating the Eagles 53-27.
In the Thursday night match-up on the Tomahawk home court the Tomahawks defeated Berean, 62-26. The PBJH squad was at Sedgwick Monday night.
At Canton-Galva the Tomahawks took control of the game early with solid defense and quick scores to sprint out to a 15-0 lead by the end of the first quarter.
The Tomahawks lost some intensity in the second and Canton-Galva took advantage to cut the lead to 24-10 at the half.
The Tomahawks came out after the half to take charge of the game with Canton-Galva making a late surge. The Tomahawks had a 40-20 advantage after three periods.
The Tomahawks continued to pick up the defensive pressure and pulled away for a 53-27 win to start the season.

The Tomahawks opened at home Thursday against Berean.
The Tomahawk defense was good to start the game and capitalized on early turnovers to take a 25-2 lead.
The Tomahawks dropped off the pressure and the teams battled evenly over the next period, but the Tomahawks still went into the half with a 36-13 advantage.
The Tomahawks started the third period with some full court pressure and some good offensive movement to lead 50-19.
In the fourth quarter the Tomahawks continued to play well, but foul trouble plagued both teams slowing the pace of the game.
The Tomahawks won the home opener 62-26.
