Tomahawks finish season with tournament loss

The Tomahawks ended a spectacular season Thursday with a loss to the Moundridge Wildcats.
The previously undefeated Peabody-Burns Junior High team lost by two points, 22-20. The team finishes 6-1 on the season and Heart of America League runners-up.
The Tomahawks scored first in the tight battle on a Trevor Hamm 47-yard run. Nathan Bishop passed to Hamm for the conversion. The Tomahawks were up 8-0 in the first half.
The next series for the Wildcats ended up in the end zone with a conversion to tie the game 8-8.
Defensively both teams played hard, not allowing any more first half scores.
Moundridge scored first in the second half with a 65-yard run and the points after pass. The Cats went up 16-8.
A Tomahawk fumble created the next Tomahawk score. An alert William Pratt scooped up the ball and ran 68 yards for the touchdown. The conversion failed, but the gap tightened, 16-14.
Moundridge came right back on the next offensive series to score and extend the lead 22-14.
Defensively the PBJH squad went to work and held the Cats throughout the game.
Hamm recovered a Moundridge fumble to set up the last Tomahawk score. Bishop passed to Pratt to bring the Tomahawks to within two, 22-20. The conversion attempt to tie the score failed.
While the PBJH squad had another chance at offense, the game ended with the Wildcats on top, 22-20.
