Tomahawks end season with loss

Peabody-Burns Junior High football squad ended the season Thursday on the road with a 36-16 loss to Remington.
The team finishes 1-6 for the season.
The Colts took an early lead, 6-0, capitalizing on good field position at the Tomahawk 20.
The Tomahawks answered the score with a 65-yard drive on the next series. The touchdown was a 12-yard pass from Brian Wingert to Brandon Pickens. Elliott Spechtenhauser ran the two-point conversion and the Tomahawks took the lead, 8-6.
On the next PBJH defensive series, Pickens recovered a Colt fumble to put the offense back on the field.
Wingert hooked up with Pickens again. This time from 15 yards out for the second Tomahawk score. Spechtenhauser ran for two and the Tomahawks increased the lead, 16-6.
The Colts rallied for their second score on the next possession to put the gap at four, 16-12. A Tomahawk interception and a Tomahawk fumble led to the next two scores for the Colts. The gap widened to 28-16.
Seth Alstrom intercepted a Colt pass before the half. Time ran out with the team at the five-yard line and the score remained 28-16.
Sean Jones recovered a fumble in the second half for a defensive highlight. The only score of the second half was a Colt touchdown set up by a blocked Tomahawk punt. The Tomahawks were defeated 36-16.
"The team made good improvement throughout the season," said Coach Brian Simmonds. "We loved the community support and hope to see the support continue as we move to basketball season."
