Tomahawks edged by Goessel

Peabody Junior High Tomahawks ended their regular season play with a road game at Goessel. The Tomahawks lost to the undefeated Bluebirds in a close battle with the final score being 36 to 35. The Tomahawks now play in the Heart of America League tournament in Burrton.
The Tomahawks took an early lead in the first quarter, but Goessel came back to take the edge, 9-8, at the end of the first quarter.
Free throws for the Bluebirds made the difference in the second quarter, with Goessel leading the Tomahawks 19-14 at the half. The defensive pressure for both teams was tough.
The defense remained tight, and the Tomahawks played even with the Bluebirds with both teams scoring only seven each. The score was 26-21 at the end of the third — in favor of the Bluebirds.
The Tomahawks fought hard in the fourth, grabbing the lead with only 16 seconds to go. However, the Bluebirds hit a 15-footer to go ahead by one and take the win.
The Tomahawks finished second in the league behind Goessel and in front of Remington. The Tomahawks record for the season was 10-2.
