Tomahawks drop home contest to Goessel

Peabody-Burns Junior High boys' basketball team lost a home league contest Thursday to Goessel.

The team was defeated 46-33. Now, 2-3 for the season, the Tomahawks will take a holiday break and be back in action in January.

Goessel took an early 10-point led and the Tomahawks played catch-up throughout the first period. The PBJH offense was down by seven at the end of the first, 17-10. Jake Middleton led the team with five. Jacob Simonds had three and Elliott Spechtenhauser added two.

Full court pressure from the Bluebirds took its toll on the Tomahawks offense and the team was down, 33-19, at the half. Kendall Wiebe put in three. Simmonds, Middleton, and Brian Wingert each had a basket.

Both offenses generated only four in the third quarter. Simmonds and Aaron Topham had a basket each.

The Bluebirds took advantage of the big first half lead and defeated the Tomahawks, 46-33.

B team

Tomahawk B team lost Thursday to Goessel, 25-20.

The team is now 2-3 for the season.

Chris Dunfield led the scoring with eight. Seth Methvin had four. Martin Hofkamp, Christopher Brooks, Sean Jones, and Joe Zappone each had a basket.
