Tomahawks drop contest to Moundridge

Staff writer

Peabody-Burns Junior High football squad fell to 0-3 Thursday with a loss to Moundridge.

Moundridge controlled the first half of the game, coming up with four scores and some tough defense. The score at the half was 32-0.

Highlights for the Tomahawk defense in the first half included Christopher Brooks forcing a Wildcat fumble and Jacob Simmonds intercepting a Moundridge pass.

The Wildcats took a bigger lead in the second half with another touchdown to make the score 40-0. The Tomahawks put together a drive on the next series to get a score of their own. Simmonds took the ball 47 yards for the touchdown. Elliott Spechtenhauser ran the two-point conversion and the score was 40-8.

Moundridge answered with a long drive to put up six more.

The Tomahawks drove the field again and scored when a Tomahawk fumbled the football in the end zone and Jake Middleton recovered it for the score. Spechtenhauser added two more and the Tomahawks were down 46-16.

A successful, on-sides kick put the ball back in the hands of the Tomahawks, but time ran out and the PBJH squad was defeated 46-16.

The Tomahawks will return to Peabody this week for a home game and eight-man match-up with Little River.
