Tomahawks drop contest to Canton-Galva

Peabody-Burns Junior High Tomahawks lost the second game of the season Thursday to the Canton-Galva Eagles, 50-8.

The Eagles scored first on the Tomahawks, capitalizing on a PBJH fumble. The early score in the contest was 8-0 in the Eagles' favor.

One series later, Brandon Pickens forced a fumble. Elliott Spechtenhauser recovered the ball, but the Tomahawks couldn't convert on the series and didn't reach the endzone at all during the first half.

Canton-Galva put up two more scores to make the gap, 22-0 at the half.

The Eagles continued to soar in the second half, adding four more scores to the already lopsided total. The Tomahawks took control on offense late in the contest. Jacob Simmonds capped off a PBJH drive with a 10-yard run to put the team on the score board. Spechtenhauser earned the two-point conversion to make the final score, 50-8.

Up next for the Tomahawks is the first road trip of the season against Moundridge.
