Tomahawk teams take on Inman

The Peabody-Burns junior high basketball teams got back to the court Thursday, traveling to Inman. The boys' varsity and the girls' junior varsity recorded wins while the girls' varsity and the boys' junior varsity came up short, losing to the Teutons.

The boy's varsity squad, rusty from the Christmas break, put it all together in the second quarter, scoring 20 points in the first half.

Exploding in the third quarter, the Tomahawks doubled their point production and cruised to a convincing win 49-31. The Tomahawks now are 6-1 on the season.

The Tomahawk junior varsity boys came out to take an early lead and kept it to the half. Inman came out strong in the second half and took the lead.

The Tomahawks battled back in the fourth quarter, but came up short losing to Inman by a score of 30-24.

The Lady Tomahawk varsity team started slowly against the Teutons, only scoring three points in the first half.

Missing some easy lay-ups and free-throws in the first half, the team played a good second half, outscoring the Teutons, but falling 25-35.

Ashley Elliott played an aggressive game scoring eight points and recording eight rebounds and two steals.

The junior high girls' junior varsity started out slowly, only scoring two points in the first quarter. Kaela Gillet came off the bench and sparked second quarter play.

A win against Inman for the Tomahawk JV squad pushes their season record to 5-2.
