Thinclads fifth, 11th at Hesston years ago
Peabody-Burns High School and Junior High cross country team traveled Thursday to Hesston. The girls' squad finished fifth overall in a field of 36 1-3A teams. The boys' squad ranked 11th.
Tiana McGee led the Lady Warriors with a third-place medal finish in the junior/senior girls' division. Her time for the two-mile course was 13:12.
Ashley Elliott also medaled at 16th, Kate Topham finished 21st, Alyssa Carter 30th, and Anna Zappone rounded out the division finishes, coming in 78th.
Samantha Pickens finished 59th in the freshman/sophomore division.
Andrew Topham led the sophomore Warrior boys with a third place medal finish, running the 5K course in 17:13. Jacob Wolf came in 23rd, and Cole Welsh finished 48th.
Duane Unruh medaled 14th in the freshman division. Ryan Wiebe came in 25th, Ethan Riggs 40th, and Thomas McGee crossed the finish line 56th.
Derek Benson led the juniors with a 20th place medal finish. Jesse Riggs came in 33rd, Isaac Good 38th, Maximilian Stralka 39th, and Jason Carroll 46th.
In the senior division, Nicholas Whitney came in 22nd, Christian Bengtsson finished 30th, and Zach Dameron 46th.
A road trip to Bluestem is next on the schedule.
At the Clearwater meet, the boys ran a two-mile course and Kendall Wiebe placed 19th, not 4th, as previously reported.
