Thinclads do well at Chapman

Peabody-Burns High School girls' cross country team garnered four top 20 finishes, while a member of the boys' squad took first place in the 5Kfreshman/sophomore division in the Chapman Cross Country meet held at Indian Hills Golf Course.
Tiana McGee led the girls' team with a third place finish in the two-mile course with a time of 13:22. She was followed closely by Kate Topham with 13:33 and Ashley Elliott in seventh place with a time of 13:55. Alyssa Carter came in 12th with a time of 14:11. Stephanie Vetter ran 31st and Anna Zappone finished 37th.
Samantha Pickens ran for the freshman/sophomore team and finished the two-mile course with a time of 17:27.
Leading the boys' freshman/sophomore squad, Topham's time of 17:23 earned him the first place finish. Duane Unruh came in 13th with a time of 19:48. Jacob Wolf placed 18th, Ryan Wiebe came in 30th, and Ethan Riggs came in 34th.
For the junior/senior boys' team, Nicholas Whitney finished the 5K course 19th with a time of 20:18. Maximilian Stralka came in 26th, Christian Bengtsson placed 31st, Jesse Riggs came in 39th, and Zach Dameron was 44th.
Next outing for the Peabody-Burns harriers will be the Heart of America League meet at Sedgwick.
