Thinclads bring home first place plaque

The Warrior cross country team made an impression Sept. 15 on the competition at Hesston. The girls' squad brought home the first place plaque with four runners earning medals. The boys' squad had three individual medalists.

Jana Windsor ran the two-mile course in 12:44 to clinch first place in the junior/senior division. Tiana McGee was close behind Windsor to finish second with a time of 12:53.

Ashley Elliott finished third in the freshman/sophomore division with a time of 13:04 and Alyssa Carter medaled with a 14th place finish to clinch a team win for the squad.

Andrew Topham ran the 3.1-mile course in 17:54 to place third on the day. Mirko Dechow placed 16th and Nicholas Whitney came in 19th to round out the scoring for the boys' side of the team.

The Hesston meet is a very large competition with 46 schools, 1A through 6A.
