Thieves break into concession trailer at park
On June 9 a concession trailer at Peabody City Park was broken into and food and concession items were stolen. The door of the trailer also was damaged in the break-in. It is estimated that the loss amounted to slightly more than $100 plus the cost to repair or replace the door.
The trailer belongs to Sharon Oursler. Oursler leaves it setup at the ball field during baseball and softball season.
Police have no suspects in the burglary at this time.
This past week reports of two attempted burglaries of motor vehicles also were taken. Thieves were unable to gain entry into either vehicle and nothing was stolen.
"This is a good time to issue a reminder to Peabody citizens," said Peabody Police Chief Bruce Burke. "People should keep their vehicles locked and their houses locked.
"We have had too many thefts and attempted thefts in the past few months. People need to be smarter about their possessions and more careful about locking up their houses and cars."
Also during the past week police took three reports of criminal damage to property. Vandals threw eggs at a residence and a vehicle, Burke reports. The case is under investigation.
A report was taken Friday at Food Mart of theft of gas.
Peabody police officers took a report Sunday of an unattended death at Indian Guide Apartments. At the time they were assisting a Peabody ambulance crew transporting the individual to Newton Medical Center.
