Theme is chosen for annual parade
Peabody Main Street Association once again will sponsor the annual Christmas parade to mark the official opening of the 2002 holiday season.
Theme for this year's parade is "Let It Snow." Ideas for entries include snowmen, snowflakes, sleds, polar bears, or anything featuring the white, fluffy stuff.
Committee chairman Susie Schmidt said, "The basic idea is that it's going to snow anyway, so why not have fun with it?"
The parade is tentatively scheduled for Dec. 1 with line-up to be at 4:30 p.m. at the high school. Starting time is 5 p.m. The parade route will be down Walnut Street from the high school to downtown.
Anyone interested in participating should contact Schmidt at 983-2264, Debra Buser at 983-2998, or Joanna Brazil at the city office, 983-2174.
"Participation last year was great and we hope for an even better turn out this year," said Schmidt. "We also hope people in the community will get in the spirit and decorate their homes, porches, rooftops, and yards with the "Let it Snow" theme."
