Thank you Lori, Storm, and Hunter

Can any readers explain why U.S.-50 and U.S.-56 highways in Marion County post lower speed limits for Lincolnville, Florence, and Peabody than for Marion and Hillsboro.

There is more highway development at both Marion or Hillsboro than at Florence or Peabody. But the limit is deadly fast through Marion and Hillsboro, though reduced at Florence and Peabody.

The same is true at Canton and Galva where the speed limit is reduced. Only at Marion and Hillsboro is the speed limit not reduced in the city limits. And there have been fatalities.

Marion and Hillsboro appear to be the only places where traffic is permitted at 65 mph, a deadly menace to those entering, leaving, or crossing the federal routes.

If there's a good reason, let's hear it.

What can be done to change it? It's up to you. Let your voice be heard.
