Tabor grad to address poverty, disaster at session

Recent Tabor College graduate Landon Fulmer, Washington, D.C., will present "Poverty and Disaster Around the Globe: Challenges to the U.S. Involvement" Monday at the 60+ Learning in Retirement Program.

Fulmer, a staff member for Kansas Republican Senator Sam Brownback, recently traveled with Senator Brownback to areas affected by the 2004 tsunami, including Sri Lanka and Indonesia. During the Learning in Retirement Program session, he will share pictures and stories.

Fulmer will end with Senator Brownback's agenda of how the United States should address global poverty. A question and answer time will be provided.

The session will begin at 10 a.m. in the Wohlgemuth Music Education Center located on the Tabor College campus.

Fulmer's job has taken him to Norway, Israel, and twice to Asian areas devastated by the 2004 tsunami. These international travels reflect Fulmer's global interest that began as a child when he spent two years with his family in Taiwan completing mission work.

His parents, Steve and LaDonna Fulmer, reside in Buhler.

Older adults are invited to attend. Enrollment is $15 per person a semester, $28 per couple or $4 a session. In an effort to encourage participation, first-time visitors will be admitted free of charge. Registration and discount lunch cards will be available at the door.
