Tabor band to give home concert Sunday

Right on the heels of its spring tour, the Tabor College Concert Band will offer its home crowd a sampling of repertoire ranging from traditional symphonic band literature to marches to contemporary arrangements of traditional hymns.

The concert will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday in the Tabor College Chapel-Auditorium, located in the H.W. Lohrenz Building.

The Trombone/Low Brass Choir also will perform selections.

Soloists featured this year are two music majors: junior Angie Buller, Ingalls, on the flute, and sophomore Elise Penrose, Bakersfield, Calif., who will sing soprano. Both students will be accompanied by ensembles.

Unique to this concert will be a special tribute to the victims of Sept. 11 titled "A Hymn for the Lost and the Living" by Eric Ewazen. A video produced by junior Caleb Dirks, Durham, will accompany the piece.

The band toured and performed in churches and schools throughout Kansas, Nebraska, and South Dakota April 21 to 24.

The public is invited to attend this performance.
