Surprise luncheon honors Nightengale on birthday

A surprise birthday luncheon for Don Nightengale was held on Sunday at the home of Carol Nightengale in Topeka. Those in attendance included the honored guest Don and his wife Twylah, Marvin and Sherol Nightengale of Burns, Don and Shirley Maxwell of Alma, Richard and Dolores Mann of Cedar Point, Jim and Beulah Goering of Moundridge, Bud and Janet Turner and Jonathan Turner of Eureka, and Shannon turner of Overland Park.
Jack and Geri Huntley of Springfield Mo., and Jama of Lawrence spent Friday and Saturday with Bus and Lois Huntley. Kris Hysom of Wichita will spend the week with them along with Geri. Sunday visitors were Lola and Jayma Huntley of Newton.
Bert Zogelman and Scott Zogelman attended the Marion High School promenade Saturday evening. Heidi and Krista Zogelman were participants.
Opal and Truman Strong visited on Sunday with their son Bill Strong at Eureka.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold McAlexander of Denison visited Gladys Lespagnard, Ernie Hurdle, and Harvey Wells Sunday afternoon.
Betty Ireland spent Friday and Saturday in Wichita with Wanda Vaupel and Katie. Betty, Wanda, and Katie visited on Sunday with Wava Ireland in El Dorado.
Bert Zogelman, Scott Zogelman, and Carol Callahan of Burns visited Bert's brother and wife Mr. and Mrs. Joe Carter in Hutchinson Friday evening.
Mrs. Jerry Malmgren of Overland Park and Mrs. Gus Hamm of Tampa visited Betty Ireland last Monday to help celebrate her birthday. John Padgett joined them at noon for lunch at the Burns Café.
Richard and Lucille Wyss ate at Applebee's in Newton Saturday evening. Lucille was celebrating her birthday. They also visited their son and wife, Richard Lee and Darla Wyss.
Lenora Graham and Chloe Triggs attended an Easter luncheon Thursday noon at the Wonsevu Christian Church.
Don and Twylah Nightengale attended a birthday supper Sunday evening for Gladys Mann at the home of her son and wife, Richard and Dolores Mann at Cedar Point. There were around 50 in attendance. Gladys was celebrating her 95th birthday.
Jean Everett visited Leona Everett in Hillsboro Sunday afternoon. Jean attended the Easter luncheon Thursday noon at the Wonsevu Christian Church.
The Florentines met at the senior center last Friday for their monthly meeting. Those in attendance for the potluck meal at noon included Loren and Mildred Cox and Cecil Rotz of Newton, Betty Ireland, Virginia Learned, Lenora Graham, Betty Inlow, Benard Stromberg, Roger Giesbrecht, Keith Holtsclaw, Elsie Tittle, Harold and David Huntley, Estelle McCarty, and Roseva McLinden.
Beki Zook was on vacation March 28 through April 2 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Beki attended the wedding shower for Kay Lynn Summervill Saturday afternoon at Marion County Lake.
Mr. and Mrs. Ramon Zook spent from April 5 through 12 at Solana Beach, Calif. While there they toured Baja Peninsula and San Diego.
