Stroud to speak at Victorian tea at Peabody

Victorian Revival Society will present a women's tea and program at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 5 at Peabody-Burns Elementary School multi-purpose room.

"The Children's Hour" will feature guest speaker, Jacque Stroud of Topeka who will present children's vintage clothing and speak on maternity and childhood in the 1860s.

Stroud, wife of former Peabody resident, Hershel Stroud, will appear in period costume in the persona of Isabel Chase Crawford, wife of former Kansas governor, Sam Crawford (1864-1868). She is a graduate of University of Missouri at Kansas City and Washburn University at Topeka.

She currently is an administrative assistant, translator, and export manager of Medventures International at Topeka.

Tickets are $10 and must be purchased in advance through the VRS or Joanna Brazil at Peabody City Building.
