Strategic planning group gets started
A group of Peabody people met April 8 at the Peabody Senior Center with Debbie Devine of Bucher Willis and Ratliff, the consulting firm helping to create a strategic plan.
Devine explained that the project is intended to create a "road map" for Peabody's future.
"You will need to have broad spread community involvement," Devine told the group of about 15 in attendance. "In the planning process, individuals and groups involved have a chance to put their mark on Peabody's future. They will have a say in what the future looks like."
Group members each told of one thing they would like to see become a reality in the next five or 10 years. Topics included an auditorium for the high school, attracting new families, a walking trail, stronger youth involvement, an expanded tax base, and the appearance of the community entrances.
The group also listed groups and organizations it thought should be represented in the planning. Members of the groups listed will be invited to the next meeting which will be May 6.
Individuals who would like to be on the committee can contact Joanna Brazil at the city building (983-2174) or Mary Avery at 983-2810.
