Storyteller will entertain at Peabody park
The summer reading program at Peabody Township Library is flying right along as the focus moves to birds with the June 27 story hour session.
The session will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the library basement with stories, crafts, snacks, and book checkout. There also will be some feathered visitors for children to meet.
July 4th will bring a special treat for dog lovers and those who like to laugh. Storyteller John Anderson from Kansas City will share stories and songs about his canine friends in his presentation "Brother John's Dog Days."
The 10 a.m. show is free and will take place at the park west of the football field. All ages are welcome to attend (bring a blanket or lawn chair). Refreshments will follow the show and those in attendance will have a chance to purchase a $10 recording of the program on CD if they wish.
Anderson's visit is made possible by a grant from Peabody Community Foundation. The foundation makes an annual grant to local non-profit groups. Peabody Township Library was this year's winner and the grant has provided some extras for the summer reading program.
Summer readers also are preparing to perform a skit for the residents of Legacy Park at 10:30 a.m. July 5. Performers will act out the story of "Mr. Putter and Tabby Paint the Porch" by Cynthia Rylant, as it is read aloud. The public is invited to attend.
