Steven Morgan finishes fifth at state track meet

Peabody-Burns High School state track qualifiers traveled to Wichita Friday and Saturday for the state track meet.
Steven Morgan finished his high school career with a fifth place finish in the discus with a throw of 140'3".
While no other team members placed in the top six to reach the finals, two new school records were set.
The 4x100 relay team of Chris Hamm, Mario Nava, Kurt Phillips, and Tommy Phillips finished with a time of 45.58, just missing a trip to the finals. The 4x800 relay team of Jana Windsor, Dalli Hammond, Tiana McGee, and Andrea Ferren finished with 10:53.32.
"We are really young with a lot of freshmen and sophomores. We have a great future ahead of us," said coach Shawna McCartney. "The weather was really difficult for the kids, rainy and cold, then really warm, but they had a lot of fun and did a good job."
