Sponsors, riders sought for cycling event
Sponsors and riders are sought for Bike Marion County, a series of benefit bicycle rides Oct. 12 at Marion Reservoir.
Names of those contributing $100 or more will be printed on the back of commemorative T-shirts given to riders and available for sale at the registration table.
All funds go to Communities in Schools of Marion County, an organization that coordinates local resources to help young people learn, stay in school, and prepare for life.
Fees are $40 for adults, $20 for riders younger than 14 (must be accompanied by an adult) or $120 per five-member team.
Fifty- and 35-mile rides begin at 7:30 a.m. Ten-mile rides start at 10:30 a.m. All rides begin and end at Cottonwood Point, Marion Reservoir.
A barbecue pork lunch and entertainment will be provided from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. People do not have to ride in the event to eat at the lunch or enjoy the music and other activities.
