The Trojans had the chance to end their season on a high note Thursday night at Gypsum and finish the year with their first winning season since 2003.

With only pride to play for after having their fate sealed a week earlier in a loss to Marion, the order was too tall for the Trojans to take down the powerful Southeast of Saline Trojans.

After taking a 7-0 lead in the opening minute of the second quarter, Hillsboro gave up 26 unanswered points to fall victim to a 26-7 defeat.

The loss marks Hillsboro's second consecutive losing season at 4-5 overall and 0-3 in the district.

Anybody playing the Trojans have a simple game plan: slow down quarterback Justin Schropp, who can hurt you with either his arm or his legs.

Take Schropp out of the equation, take away a big part of the SES offense.

The Trojans kept Schropp and SES in check for the first quarter with Lucas Hamm picking off a Schropp pass and taking it 55 yards to set Hillsboro up with great field position at the SES 15.

Four plays later, Michael Suderman got the Trojans on the board with a six-yard touchdown.

David Funk split the uprights to give Hillsboro a 7-0 lead with 11:13 left in the first half.

But that was the only noise the Trojan offense made the rest of the game, finishing with 156 yards as it was all SES and Schropp from there.

The SES standout threw for 211 yards and ran for 98 more, hitting Travis Sheets for the go-ahead touchdown with just over 5:00 left before the break.

Schropp then fired a 21-yarder to Bryson Flax as time expired to make it a 14-7 game at halftime.

SES continued rolling the second half, taking a 20-7 lead with Colby Douglass scoring on a six-yard run on the Trojans' opening possession.

Schropp capped off the scoring late in the fourth quarter with a one-yard quarterback keeper.
