An extremely hot day kept some Burns senior citizens at home July 9, but 16 hardy souls met for the monthly potluck dinner.

Following the meal, "Happy Birthday" was sung to Evelyn Sidener and "Happy Anniversary" to Lee and Evelyn Sidener.

Minamae Bierman read a humorous article, "God Versus Satan." Kathleen Brenzikofer read "Life Goes On" and "Good Old Days — That Was Good."

Brenzikofer also reminded the group of the county board meeting to be held Friday at Goessel, the Marion County Fair Aug. 7-10 at Hillsboro, the Senior Services Fair Sept. 17 in Salina, and that commodities would be distributed from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Burns City Building.

Don and Laverna Parrish were hosts and entertained the group with "The Carol Burnett Reunion" video.

Those enjoying the day were James Olberding, Irene Elisha, Minamae Bierman, Don and Laverna Parrish and their granddaughter Melissa, Esther Nelson, Fritz Brening, Lee and Evelyn Sidener, Ed Grimwood, Maude Gaines, LaVonne Ammeter, Gene Obee, Kathleen Brenzikofer, and Joyce Kyle.
