School board approves lab units
At the October meeting of USD #398 board of education, the board approved the purchase of a 24-station mobile computer lab from Business Computer Center. The lab will cost $37,565. Funding for the system will be determined by the administration.
Lorinda Duncan of Agler and Gaeddert reviewed the annual district audit report for the board. It was accepted on a 4-1 vote with Lou Anderson voting against accepting the report because of frustration with state funding. An audit proposal for the next three years will be presented at the November meeting.
In other business the board:
— voted to offer an aide position at the elementary school to Mary Thiessen and the part-time custodian position at the high school to Jack Brunzell.
— heard from Superintendent Alstrom about a conference on missing and exploited children. Alstrom and Peabody Police Chief Jeff Pohlman will attend the conference in Alexandria, Va., in January 2003.
— approved a plan to allow a vehicle from USD #408 to enter the Peabody-Burns district for the sole purpose of transporting a student to and from Marion Elementary school when necessary.
— accepted the resignation of Vickie Hicks as custodian of the high school effective Oct. 25, 2002.
— heard monthly reports from building administrators and held an executive session for the purpose of discussing personnel. No action was taken after returning to open session.
