School board approves final contracts

USD 398 board of education members met for the regular monthly meeting Aug. 8 with all members present.

Miscellaneous contract offerings were among the topics of board business on the agenda.

The board approved hiring the following personnel for the 2005-06 school year: Roseanna Brooks as district art instructor, Clint Winchester as assistant football coach, and G. Kay Raskopf as bus driver.

In addition, emergency substitute certification was approved for Samuel Brown, Beth Eldridge, Robin Mesecher, Marjorie Richardson, Paula Schroeder, Billy Spangler, Dale Beverly, Roger O'Neal, and Bradley Shaw.

In other business the school board:

— heard a PowerPoint presentation from Ann Leppke on PBHS student placement Aug. 3-7 at National 4-H Wildlife Habitat Contest in Little Rock, Ark.

— approved a change to a full-color yearbook for the 2005-06 school year and authorized an additional $1,500 to cover the cost if it is not met through ad and book sales.

— appointed Doe Ann Hague and Gary Jones as the negotiation team for the 2006-07 school year.

— agreed to review eligibility policy Monday at the board retreat.

— agreed to discuss at the retreat options for kindergarten instruction in future school years.

— went into executive session with the superintendent and high school administrators to discuss a student. Upon return to open session, the board voted 7-0 to approve a student request for part-time enrollment providing board guidelines are met.

— heard administrators' building reports.
