Sassy Silk Hatters donate new stuffed animals
Officer Jimmy Philpott represented Peabody's police force at the June 30 meeting of Sassy Silk Hatters at Sharon's Korner Kitchen.
Red hatter Cora Bloomer, focused the women's attention earlier this year on a program initiated by the police to gather new stuffed toys for use in cases involving children displaced by events (i.e., domestic abuse, child abuse, accidents).
While gently used toys are in abundance in the community, the possibility of allergic reactions by some children was a factor.
As always, the meeting of the Red Hat Society was conducted in an atmosphere of good fun and friendship, accounting for the enormous grin on Officer Philpott's face as he was made an honorary member for the evening, thus entitling him to try on one of the lady's hats. Thanks, Jimmy, for being such a wonderful sport.
