Ruth Bolen
Ruth K. Bolen, 88, El Dorado, died at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital there.
Services were held Jan. 4, 2003, at Kirby-Morris Funeral Home, El Dorado, with burial in cemetery at Burns.
Born Jan. 22, 1914, at El Dorado, she was the daughter of the late Edwin P. and Katherine (Overst) Gfeller.
She was raised on the family farm near Burns, attended school and graduated from Burns High School. Years later she was active in life enrichment at Butler County Community College, El Dorado.
She married Clifford Bolen on Jan. 21, 1937, at Burns. He died in 1964. For many years the couple operated Bolen Grocery in Burns.
After moving to El Dorado in 1972 she worked at Graves Drug Store. She attended Ebenezer United Methodist Church and formerly was a member of Florence's chapter of the Order of Eastern Star and B.P.W.
Survivors include her daughter, Kathryn Neukirch of El Dorado; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
