Rudolph Penner

Rudolph "Rudi" Penner, 87, died Sept. 2, 2006, at Wheat State Manor, Whitewater.

Born Sept. 9, 1918, at Whitewater, he was the son of Kurt and Bertha (Schmitt) Penner.

On Oct. 10, 1940, he married Anna Voth at Emmaus Church, Whitewater.

He was a member and former deacon of Emmaus Mennonite Church, member of Kansas Mennonite Men's Chorus, and founding board member of Wheat State Manor, Whitewater.

He was preceded in death by his wife; three sons, Stanley, Gerald, and William; two brothers, Paul and Karl; and a sister, Charlotte.

Survivors include a son, Leroy Penner of Peabody; sister, Hilda Penner of Winfield; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday) at Emmaus Mennonite Church, Whitewater, with Pastors Rodney Crowell and Jim Voth officiating.

Burial was in the church cemetery.

Memorial funds have been established with the church or Hospice Care of Kansas.
