Round the town: Willis Penners host birthday dinner

Hannah Perry's 14th, and Amanda Duron's 19th birthdays were celebrated Thursday evening with a dinner. The Willis Penners hosted and guests were the Stuart Leppke family of McPherson and the Tom Perry family of rural Hillsboro. Guests for a Friday evening meal were Eldon and Eva Pankratz of rural Hillsboro.

Norma Ballard of Topeka spent the weekend with Duane and Shirley Hamm. The family celebrated the birthday Saturday of their sister, Eileen Greikspors at Wichita.

Darlene Schmidt was guest of honor Monday for a surprise birthday celebration. Lucretia Vance hosted and guests were Irma Koop, Dorothy Pankratz, Carol Flaming, Myrta Bartel, Leona Koslowsky, Ruth Ann Penner, Helen McMinn, and Letty Enns.

Mary Seibel and Eleanor Jost visited Friday afternoon with Jake and Darlene Koslowsky and Elmer and Dorothy Seibel at Newton.

Tim, Donna, and Marissa Diener, Oliver and Marcella Mohn, and Kent and Emily Nichols of Hesston visited this past week at the Paul Pankratz home.

Glenda Fleener of El Dorado spent Wednesday night with her mother, Pearl Koch. Gordon and Judy Heibert were supper guests.

Jason and Rachel Mohn and family spent the weekend with Justin and Jenny McKnight at Salina. The group visited Rolling Hills Zoo, west of Salina.

Megan Riffel of Hays, and Mandi Riffel of Rose Hill spent Wednesday with their grandparents, Wilbur and Florence Hett.

Paul and Arlene Pankratz visited Tuesday at Durham with Gaylord and Valera Hamm.

March 29 - April 5

Hamm cousins gathered for Wednesday dinner at Marion. Attending were Oliver and Marcella Mohn, Paul and Arlene Pankratz, Duane and Shirley Hamm, and Larry and Ruth Hamm, all of Hillsboro, Clayton and Wanda Hamm of Marion, Eldon Schwemmer of El Dorado, Neil Coleman, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Schwemmer, Elfea Townsend, Carolyn Siler, and Lillian Dickens, all of Wichita, Gaylord and Valera Hamm of Durham, and Gus and Mildred Hamm of Tampa.

Edie Ollenburger, Mary Helen Becker, and Betty Meier celebrated their birthdays Saturday with breakfast at Olde Towne Restaurant. Honoring them were Virginia Fadenrecht, Arlene Pankratz, Geraldine Frick, Donna Diener, Marcella Mohn, Marilyn Geis, Jane Miller, Pearl Koch, Valerie Hampton, Mary Lancaster, and Carol Ollenburger.

Margie Jantz and Lena Marie Koehn of Newton and Clara and Alma Toews visited Friday evening with Frances Schmidt at Halstead.

John and Connie Seibel and family of Georgia, Cindy Seibel and LaVella Kilpatrick of Kansas City, Gracia Gulker and children of Manhattan, and Clint and Evelyn Seibel were Sunday dinner guests of Irene Seibel.

Paul and Elaine Jantzen and Bob and Ruth Unruh of Hutchinson spent the weekend visiting Paul's brother Richard Jantzen at Topeka.

Tony and Annette Becker of Monument, Colo., were weekend guests of the Kent Beckers at Durham. They made the trip to help clean up at the Becker farm after it was hit by a tornado. They also visited their grandmother, Mary Helen Becker at Hillsboro.

Mr. and Mrs. Paul Meysing of Lincolnville were Sunday evening meal guests of Mary Helen Becker in Hillsboro.

Galen Fast of Arvada, Colo., was a weekend guest of his mother, Bonnie Fast. Jim and Gayle Fulton of Colorado visited briefly.

Duane and Shirley Hamm attended a Saturday weightlifting event of 4A schools at Abilene. Their grandson, Austin Hamm of Spring Hill participated. The Hamms visited Tuesday with Albert, Sarah, and Andrew Christenson at Bel Aire.

Haywood to meet

with veterans Tuesday

Richard Haywood, veterans' service representative for the Kansas Commission on Veterans' Affairs will be at the Marion County Health Department, Marion, from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday.
