Roses, resolutions and red velvet is next women's fair
By Peggy Radisewitz-Wier
Peabody Main Street's "How Does YOUR Garden Grow?" committee will host the next women's fair, "Roses, Resolutions, and Red Velvet" Jan. 24. The committee has put together another program that will delight all women.
Beth Eldridge and her committee is excited to open the program with the Peabody United Methodist Church minister, Linda Willey.
The Rev. Willey will begin the morning with a message about resolutions for the New Year. Peabody's Shirley Davis will instruct attendees on how to decorate a red velvet cake, which can be tasted immediately or taken home.
New to the program will be book reviews. Mildred Buller will review children's books, Raquel Riggs will review books for young adults, and Linda Wetta has chosen something special.
The committee is excited to have Marilyn Jones in the program. In her historically passionate style, she will share what she has learned about Peabody's floral exhibition hall, known by locals as the "round house."
Heavenly Expressions from Potwin will be there to show how to make floral arrangements. An arrangement made during the demonstration may be given as one of the many door prizes during the program.
A presentation on winter skin care also will be part of the program.
The food committee has put together the luncheon menu. It is a mouth-watering menu you won't want to miss.
Sponsors and donations chairman Linda Eden and her committee has successfully obtained wonderful door prizes and items for the goody bags. Additional donations are welcome and appreciated.
Space still is available for booths.
Cost for the event is $12 in advance and $15 at the door, provided space is available. Registration will begin at 9:45 a.m. Jan. 24, in the Peabody Senior Center. Coffee and morning snacks will be provided.
The program begins at 10 a.m. and should end about 3 p.m. Lunch is included.
