Ronald Stewart

Ronald L. Stewart, 72, of Newton, died June 4, 2006.

Born Feb. 2, 1934, at Bloomfield, Neb., he was the son of Cecil and Ada (Burley) Stewart.

On Dec. 18, 1974, he married Emma Topham Reid.

He served in the U.S. Air Force for 26 years, was a vending salesman for Swanson Corporation in Omaha, Neb., and worked part-time for five years as a custodian at Lincoln Elementary School, Newton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Norman and Bobby; son, Kevin; and daughter, Debbie.

Survivors include his wife, Emma of Newton; two daughters, Linda Wright of Papillion, Neb., and Cyndy King of Hailey, Idaho; three stepdaughters, Ginny Reid-Matern of Salisbury, Md., Julie Carroll of Evanston, Ill., and Elaine Davis of Newton; two brothers, Max Stewart of West Point, Neb., and Jerry Stewart of Guilford, Conn.; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was cremated and there was no service.

A memorial fund has been established with Caring Hands Humane Society, Newton.
