Robinson, Van Gundy marry

Roxanne Robinson and Brett Van Gundy, both of Emporia, were married in a 7 p.m. ceremony Sept. 2, 2006, at the Emporia Country Club. The Honorable Judge Ted Hollembeck officiated at the double ring ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Faron and Beverly Wilson of Peabody. Parents of the groom are Michael Van Gundy and Cruz and Susan Mendoza, all of Emporia.

Escorted by her father, the bride wore a white satin, sleeveless gown featuring a pearled and sequined empire bodice and a V-neckline. It was accented with a drape which served as sleeves. She carried red silk roses.

The bride was attended as maid of honor by Jaime Knavel of Iola. Flower girl was Rylee Knavel of Iola. Serving the groom as best man was Jake Dalton of Emporia. Ring bearer was Kaleb Plummer of Iola. Jeff Bledsoe of Emporia was usher. Readers were Selena Klumpe and Melissa Edwards, both of Emporia.

A reception was held following the ceremony. Dana Newton of Emporia and Valerie Palmer of Iola were servers. The wedding cake was baked and decorated by Gloria Rains of Newton. Rains also was the photographer.

The couple took a wedding trip by train to Chicago. They are making their home in Emporia.

The bride is a 1998 graduate of Peabody-Burns High School and a 2000 graduate of Butler County Community College in El Dorado. She is a public safety dispatcher with the Emporia Police Department.

The groom is a 1994 graduate of Emporia High School. He is a detention officer for the Lyon County Sheriff's Department in Emporia.

A Sept. 1 rehearsal dinner at Bruff's in Emporia was hosted by the groom's parents.
