Robert Busenitz
Farmer and stockman Robert K. Busenitz, 56, died June 15, 2004, at his home near Benton.
Born April 8, 1948, at Newton, he was the son of William and Emma (Wiebe) Busenitz. He grew up in the community and attended Berean Academy at Elbing.
On May 8, 1976, he married Barb Burkholder at Omaha, Neb. The couple made their home on the farm near Benton.
A successful farmer, he was a well-respected member of the Whitewater community. He was a member of Emmaus Mennonite Church, served on the Murdock Township Board for 18 years, and on the committee for camp Good News for more than 25 years.
He was preceded in death by his father, William.
Survivors include his wife, Barb; mother, Emma Busenitz of Brainerd; five sons, Kurt of Mullen, Neb., Marcus of Chicago, Ill., Austin, Luke, and Stuart, all of the home; a daughter, Amber Beery of Grand Rapids, Mich.; five brothers, William of Potwin, Arnold of Valley Center, Gilbert of Madison, Ga., David of Topeka, and Herbert of Whitewater; five sisters, Helen Busenitz of Ecuador, South America, Emma Becker of Minneapolis, Minn., Theresa Artmann of Wolf Point, Mont., Kady Schubert of Omaha, Neb., and Christina Busenitz of Guinea, West Africa; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday at Emmaus Mennonite Church.
Casket bearers were Kurt Busenitz, Luke Busenitz, Marcus Busenitz, Stuart Busenitz, Austin Busenitz, and Matt Beery.
Herbert Busenitz was an honorary casket bearer.
